MAT & Academy Sports Facility Funding
Funding to pay for new or improved sports facilities
Academies and MATs are eligible for funding to improve their sports facilities and promote healthy living.
The Soft Drinks Levy came into effect in April 2018 and will tax the soft drinks industry on any product with a sugar content over 5g per 100ml and is expected to raise around £520 million a year.
What can the Sugar Tax be used for?
The government has allocated money from the levy specifically for:
Sports facilities, including pitches, sports halls, gymnasiums and multi-use games areas
Changing facilities
Playgrounds
Kitchens and dining facilities
Sports facility funding will be available through the Healthy Pupils Capital Fund (HPCF) but first academies will need to carry out sports facility assessments to apply for some of this sugar-based windfall.
S2e’s team of experienced chartered building surveyors will deliver a comprehensive assessment of current sports facilities and provide on-going support with HPCF applications, design and planning, contractor selection and project management.

Fire risk assessments are an essential tool in ensuring the safety and well-being of both students and staff in educational settings. By thoroughly examining potential sources of ignition and fuel within the school premises, including kitchens, science labs, and less monitored areas like toilets and changing rooms, these assessments aim to mitigate the risks of fire.
