Condition Data Collection (CDC) 2 programme announced

The second wave of the Condition Data Collection programme has been announced by the Department for Education (DfE).

CDC 2 is the successor programme to CDC 1 and will run from 2021 to 2026.

Like the first programme, every government funded school in England will be visited with information collected on the current condition of the school buildings. This information will supplement the data collected in CDC 1 and enable the DfE to prioritise the allocation of capital expenditure and make sure funds go to where they are most needed.

At this early stage, a provisional list has been published showing the full list of schools, their unique reference number (URN) and the proposed tranche (1 to 9) the school has been allocated to.

Schools should review their proposed tranche date and advise the DfE by Monday 16th November whether there are any planned building works that would deny a surveyor access to the site when schools are due to be visited.

The list can be viewed here.

The tranche school site visit dates are:

  • tranche 1 runs from February 2021 to July 2021

  • tranche 2 runs from August 2021 to January 2022

  • tranche 3 runs from February 2022 to July 2022

  • tranche 4 runs from August 2022 to January 2023

  • tranche 5 runs from February 2023 to July 2023

  • tranche 6 runs from August 2023 to January 2024

  • tranche 7 runs from February 2024 to July 2024

  • tranche 8 runs from August 2024 to January 2025

  • tranche 9 runs from February 2025 to July 2025

Whilst further guidance will be published early in 2021, the DfE have requested that if a school has any questions or wants to let them know about scheduled building works, or provide an update on their organisation’s primary contact details, that they should email dfe.cdcprogramme@education.gov.uk.
