Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme
Funding for heat decarbonisation and energy efficiency measures
The Public Sector Decarbonisation Scheme (PSDS) provides grants to help MATS and academies pay for energy efficiency and reduce their CO2 emissions from heating.
It offers up to 100% of the cost of capital projects designed to decarbonise buildings, making it easier for academies to go greener.
In the push towards net zero targets, it offers valuable funds to those able to make a successful application.
Specifically there are funds to replace ‘end-of-life’ fossil fuel systems (such as gas boilers) and install environmentally friendly low-carbon heat sources instead.
The fund also supports additional energy efficiency measures for a ‘whole building’ approach to heat decarbonisation.
How to get decarbonisation funding
Because the process is relatively complex, The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy offers additional funding – called the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF) – so that applicants can pay for experts to help them apply and to support projects once underway.
Expert chartered building surveyors such as Surveyors to Education can assist in all these areas to help MATs and academies with their green agenda.
Our directors each have exceptional experience with PSDS/LCSF funding and personally write every bid, acting as a single point of contact.

Fire risk assessments are an essential tool in ensuring the safety and well-being of both students and staff in educational settings. By thoroughly examining potential sources of ignition and fuel within the school premises, including kitchens, science labs, and less monitored areas like toilets and changing rooms, these assessments aim to mitigate the risks of fire.
