Judith Applegarth joins S2e as Associate Director

We are very pleased to announce that Judith Applegarth has joined Surveyors to Education as an Associate Director.

Judith is a very experienced education estates and funding professional and has spent much of her career in local government working to expand and improve education infrastructure. Judith will be working on a part-time basis, in close partnership with our academy and MAT clients, to help them with their growth strategies, and specifically Section 106 and CIL funding.

In recent years S2e has established itself as a market leader for estate strategy and funding provision, and I am really excited to be joining their expanding team as it looks to grow its offering and expertise.”

Judith has been a specialist in education provision and capital planning since qualifying as a town planner and joining Staffordshire County Council in 1994. There, she was involved in education provision, strategically planning the authority’s land holdings, and leading on securing Section 106 contributions for council services. In 2002 she moved to Warwickshire County Council where she became the head of the safety and premises traded service. Her work incorporated education capital programme delivery including strategic replacement programmes for special schools, early years, mainstream primary, and secondary provision.

In 2009 Judith moved to Coventry City Council where she became Primary Capital Programme Manager. During the height of the primary population growth she identified and developed growth strategies, secured funding and worked in partnership with schools and academies to deliver much needed places.

For many years Judith formed part of the Education Building Development Officers Group (EBDOG) becoming a Midlands representative for six years on the National Executive, advising national government policy makers.

Throughout her working life, Judith has formed strong working relationships with all stakeholders across the education sector and her positive pragmatic approach, combined with her thorough understanding of the pressures facing responsible bodies, academies and schools, has always ensured engagement and delivery.

Judith lives with her family in Warwickshire. She is fully committed to getting the best for children, serving on two governing bodies, being involved in scouting, and helping as an assistant cub leader
