The Department for Education has confirmed that the £300 million increase in school maintenance funding announced in the Autumn Budget will be delivered through the School Condition Allocation (SCA) for 2025-26.

While the recent Spring Statement offered little new information on capital spending for school buildings, a worsening fiscal outlook and global uncertainties are raising questions about the affordability of future investment. Although planned capital spending for 2025-26 is higher than previously expected, real-term cuts are projected from 2028 onwards.
