There will be £3.5 million available, however, the application process will close as soon as the fund is allocated, therefore academies and maintained schools must act quick if they would like to apply.

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) launched Phase 2 of the Public Sector Low Carbon Skills Fund in July 2021, when £15 million was made available for new grant funding to help eligible public sector bodies develop heat decarbonisation plans for their estates.

Of this £15 million funding, £11.5 million was available at scheme launch for all eligible public sector organisations to apply for (including schools), however, the deadline for this closed on 4th August 2021.  The remaining £3.5 million has been reserved for maintained and academy schools only and this further application window opens on Monday 13th September 2021 at 2pm in line with the start of the 2021 Autumn Term.

Those schools and academies that applied in the July application window but were unsuccessful, may apply again using the application form published on 13 September on the Salix (the delivery partner for Phase 2 Low Carbon Skills Fund (LCSF) website.

All applicants awarded funding must complete their heat decarbonisation plans before Thursday 31st March 2022.
