More than 70 schools, academies and sixth-form colleges are celebrating after Surveyors to Education (S2e) helped them win Condition Improvement Fund (CIF) funding.

The results of the 2022 to 2023 CIF applications have been published, and we are delighted to announce we secured a record £28 million for our clients - an overall success rate of 86%!

The Condition Improvement Fund can provide game-changing funds to improve unsafe school and academy buildings. Only around a third of CIF applications are accepted each year – but our success rate for clients is always well above this win rate.

CIF money is available for projects to keep school and college buildings safe and in good working order. Most CIF funding addresses issues with poor condition, building compliance, energy efficiency or health and safety, with the highest priority going to projects that address structural safety, fire protection systems, gas safety, electrical safety or emergency asbestos removal.

CIF also supports a small number of expansion projects where Ofsted has rated the school either good or outstanding and it needs to expand its existing facilities to increase admissions or address overcrowding.

CIF 2022 to 2023 will provide funding of £498 million for 1,405 projects at 1,129 academies, sixth-form colleges and voluntary aided schools.
