Meet Jason Walton, S2e’s Senior Building Surveyor
Since Jason joined S2e in October 2023 he has revelled in the teamwork and collaborative feel of the business, where everyone works together to get jobs completed for clients. It’s the way we combine the high workload that keeps us at the top of our game with excellent service delivery.
“We're all encouraged to be innovative and creative and find better ways of doing things,” Jason says. “If someone has an idea they are challenged to go work on it then present their solutions and take them forward. It's hugely motivating.”
Jason undertook a degree in building surveying due to his passion for property and surveying. Whilst progressing in his career he returned to university to study part time in undertaking a Masters degree in construction management. Before S2e he was an Associate Director at a property consultancy and brings broad experience in education, public buildings and local authority work mixed with commercial sector expertise to make him a real asset to S2e.
Jason says he joined S2e because he was impressed with the range of projects he would be undertaking and our ambitious growth strategy. Based in Suffolk, working alongside Director Richard Coe he will be heading up our exciting plans to expand the team in East Anglia and assisting to develop our current services across the East of England. “We will be more reactive to their needs and deliver an even better service,” he says.
Role at S2e
Jason works closely with several key clients, supporting them with upcoming projects and feasibility studies. He is also assisting to help develop their estate strategies to maximise their SCA funding allocation with a focus on short and long term aspirations for their portfolio of properties.
Recent projects
Working on RAAC projects brings many benefits. “I have been working on making a teaching block safe for a high school where senior leaders are really pleased with the progress we have made.” Jason says. “They have the confidence of knowing the building is safe and in line with DfE guidance so pupils can get back to their learning safely and securely. They are so pleased that we are now looking at embarking on further projects with the school.”
His further current projects include assisting our clients with school expansions, new SEND provisions, fire compliance, structural remedial works, internal remodelling schemes and building fabric upgrades.
“Whether it is a case of a whole-school project or targeting specific blocks, S2e are helping create better learning and teaching environments for pupils and staff,” Jason says. “That’s a fantastic job to have.”
